Acceptable use

What OpenPhn may be used for — and what it may not.

OpenPhn accepts business communications placed for a lawful purpose with appropriate consent. The full policy is at openphn.com/legal/acceptable-use — that's the document you agreed to at signup.

The short version

Use OpenPhn for:

  • Transactional — order confirmations, appointment reminders, delivery updates, account-security notifications.
  • Existing-relationship — follow-ups with your own customers who have an active business relationship with you.
  • Explicitly opted-in — any outreach where the called party previously gave you express written consent under TCPA.

Do not use OpenPhn for:

  • Unsolicited telemarketing / cold outreach without prior express consent.
  • Political, religious, or charitable solicitations.
  • Debt collection (requires separate compliance review).
  • Anything fraudulent, harassing, or designed to deceive the called party.
  • Automated spam patterns — repeated unwanted calls to the same number trigger our anti-abuse heuristics.

Consequences

Violations can result in:

  • Account suspension (we'll freeze API usage and send an email).
  • Removal from our managed Twilio subaccount (if you're on OpenPhn-provisioned numbers).
  • Referral to the FCC / FTC / state AG for severe violations.

See the linked policy for the formal grounds, dispute process, and refund treatment.
